Author John Lanza Speaks at Kiwanis Meeting -  8/5/2010

Author John Lanza Speaker at Kiwanis Club

The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex Hosted author John Lanza at their most recent luncheon meeting. Mr. Lanza's book, Shot Down Over Italy is the true story of courage and survival in Nazi-occupied Italy during World War II.

 

Mr. Lanza told of how he learned 60 years after the war ended how the B-25 Mitchell bomber had been shot down over Italy and how he and his six comrads survived, by living in a cave and supported by the local

Young Children Priority One Series  -  5/29/2010
The series kicked off with a light dinner for grandparents and 3-5 year-olds that included Chiropractor Dr. Tammy Kaminski teaching the youngsters fun exercises that they can do daily to keep themselves strong, Magician Ken teaches through his magic, the importance of healthy eating and exercise.



Caldwell Kiwanis and Haiti -  4/1/2010
Rev. Andy Topp of the 1st Reformed Church of Boonton told of his work in Haiti, building homes, access to clean water,and has been an integral part of the International Humanitarian Aid Foundation, Inc.

Topp, already in Haiti to help build orphanages, became stranded in the town of Les Cayes about 80 miles southwest of Port-au-Prince after the earthquake. As part of the International Humanitarian relief operation he was there until returning home. He and his colleagues had traveled to Les

Kiwanis enters Ninth year of service to St. John's Soup Kitchen for the homeless -  2/19/2010
Each week, St. John's volunteers join the parishioners of St. John's in preparing meals for the homeless. Volunteers are needed to assist in preparing lunch and distributing breakfast. The soup kitchen line often caters to more than 400 each meal, 1 in 5 Essex County families receiving food stamps or welfare


Rotary-Kiwanis Caldwell Street Fair Huge Success -  10/4/2009
About 20,000 people came out for the Calwell Street Fair Sunday. Erin Lenihan of Roseland won a free subscription to The Progress with a guess of 487 candy corn. (Photo by Terry Rogers)
